Hestercombe is a unique collection of three gardens spanning three centuries of garden history and design. All have undergone acclaimed restoration works and today provide important examples of gardens in contrasting styles that continue to grow and develop. In particular, Hestercombe's Formal Garden is a fine example of the world renowned partnership between plants-women, Gertrude Jekyll and architect, Sir Edwin Lutyens.
In addition to the magnificent gardens, the Visitor Centre has award-winning facilities. The bright and airy Courtyard is a delight to enjoy a leisurely coffee or a delicious lunch, al fresco. The Stables Restaurant & Coffee Shop are open daily and serve a wide variety of homemade lunches from soups and sandwiches to hearty casseroles and crisp salads. There is a tempting array of cakes, biscuits, muffins and desserts, choice of coffees, teas and cold drinks including wines and beers.
The Hestercombe Gardens Trust was established in 1996 to oversee the restoration of the gardens and to protect them for the future.
The aim of the Hestercombe Trust is to reclaim, restore, preserve, enhance and develop for the education and benefit of the public, the landscape, gardens and buildings of heritage, horticultural or architectural interest associated with Hestercombe.
Fun but hard working we’re a diverse business; both a busy wedding, conference and function venue and an inspiring visitor attraction. Our aim is to create a place that people will love and will want to visit over and over, creating happy memories and spending time with loved ones.
