We are OPEN

Whether through gardening, invigilating in the Hestercombe Gallery, front of house or assisting in retail, there are a number of ways you can get involved!

Why volunteer?

By volunteering at Hestercombe you’ll be part of the Hestercombe team made up of volunteers from the local community, as well the Hestercombe staff.

The roles undertaken by volunteers here at Hestercombe are considered some of the most important across the organisation and allow us to offer the highest quality visitor experience. Without the support of volunteers we would not be able to deliver the wide range of events, high quality exhibitions and continued estate management that we currently provide.

Volunteers would need to commit to at least 3 hours a week. As a thank you for your help and hard work, Hestercombe offers volunteers free annual membership, along with a discount card to use on site *(excluding gallery shop).

Opportunities

Visitor Reception Assistant: Meet and greet Hestercombe visitors, answer phones and help with general site administration.

Gallery Invigilator: Help us to engage the public with our new art gallery and to keep the works safe.

Bookshop Assistant: Serve customers in the second-hand bookshop as well as help behind the scenes sorting, cleaning and pricing book donations.

Retail Assistant: Serve customers in the gallery or gift shop as well as tidying behind the scenes.

Events Assistant: Be part of our busy programme of events. Help run family-friendly activities for visitors to Hestercombe all year round.

Gardening Support: As part of the gardens team you will help to maintain the gardens alongside other volunteers – deadheading, weeding, pruning and more.

For all of the opportunities available, no experience is necessary – just an open mind and a willingness to learn!
