Christmas At Hestercombe!

Father Christmas at Hestercombe

Experience the magic of Christmas with us...

Winter is one of the most beautiful times at Hestercombe. Snow laden trees, crunchy frost-covered grass, low afternoon sunshine creating beautiful long shadows across the garden and steaming cups of tea to warm you through after a wintery walk...

Plus of course we’re very excited to bring you all of our special Christmas activities!

There’s the fun, undercover, artificial ice-rink* to spin and speed around, Father Christmas tucked up in his grotto, listening to children’s wishes and giving out gifts, and this year the Victorian Shrubbery will be transformed into an enchanting winter wonderland, complete with sparkling lights, beautiful decorations and woodland sculptures.

For a whole day of fun why not buy one of our passport tickets? This ticket gives you an hours skating, a visit to Father Christmas and access to the winter wonderland all day. The lights come on at 4.30 but your passport ticket gives you access to the whole garden up until that time where there’s always lots to do with trails, challenges and the fun of just running free!

On top of skating, Father Christmas and the winter wonderland there’s so much more to enjoy…

The festivities kick off with the fabulous Christmas Market. Held on Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th November 2014, Hestercombe’s Christmas market is a lively seasonal shopping extravaganza consisting of over 60 stalls, all undercover, offering a variety of hand-crafted, interesting and inspiring gifts. Perfect for that bit of early Christmas shopping. The market is great for all the family, with choirs singing in the Courtyard during the day, a magician and exciting trails and woodland walks around the gardens too.

During December 2013 we held 3 wonderful Christmas Carol Concerts. This year we hope to invite back, the fabulous Wellington School Chamber Choir, Taunton based choir Amici and, for another special kids concert, the Bridgwater Show and Youth Choirs. Our concerts take place inside the grand entrance hall to Hestercombe House, with the choir singing from the staircase. Festive nibbles and drinks available (free for members). What better way to celebrate Christmas in enchanting style!

Throughout the festive season the Stables Kitchen serves a variety of themed cakes, hot meals and Christmas specials. Book a table for lunch or just pop in.

Or, for an extra special day or evening meal book into our pop-up restaurant with smart table settings, crackers and friendly professional service. Enjoy three courses, crackers & coffee with friends or colleagues, minimum 8 for booking. Perfect for groups and office Christmas do’s!

* PS: The skating rink is artifical ice - but still great fun!
