Opening Times
Hestercombe Gardens is open all year round, except Christmas Day.

The gardens are open from 10a.m. to 6p.m. with the last entry at 5p.m. (dusk in Winter)

The Courtyard, Stables Kitchen and Lutyens Gallery are open 10a.m. to 5.30p.m. (closing at 5p.m. in Winter)

The Gardens Shop & Plant Centre are open 11a.m. to 5.30p.m. (closing at 4.30p.m. in Winter)

Bluebell Walks Open!

The bluebell walk is open! 

Gotton Copse is full with beautiful blues as the bluebells burst into flower. Follow the signs, admission is included in your garden entrance fee.

Join in on our fun Easter Egg Hunt!

Sunflower From Saturday 5th April families can join in on a fun Easter egg hunt set in the landscape (and formal) gardens. Look out for eggs along the way and answer quiz questions to win your own chocolate surprise! 

There's loads going on over the Easter holidays including egg decorating and rolling. Check the events page for updates. 


The Easter Holidays are on their way!

Easter is just around the corner and many schools will be breaking up next week with children looking for fun things to do in the holiday! 

At Hestercombe there will be many activities to keep active and get outdoors, including egg rolling & decorating, and our popular Easter trail through the gardens. 

Plus children can plant their own sunflower in the plant centre and learn how to grow flowers at home! Click here for information on what's on.


Volunteer & help in the Gallery!

This May Hestercombe plans to open a brand new, exciting contemporary art gallery featuring some of the country's most significant artwork from the last 20 years.

Would you like to be a part of this exciting new development?

It will be the first of it's kind in Somerset, it will be a fantastic opportunity for volunteers to find out more about the art world, a great opportunity for students to gain experience in stewarding and customer service, a chance to meet people and be a part of the Hestercombe story.

Mothering Sunday Lunches

Bampfylde Lecture - a whole host of horrifying cures!

Friday 28th February (Dinner 5.45, Bar 7pm, Lecture 7.30pm)

Discover the 18th Century ideas on remedies for all sorts of illnesses. From mutton broth for dysentery, garden snails and earth worms for tuberculosis to powdered insect dissolved in port for gout!

Kid's Trails all Half-Term!

It looks like the storms have gone away for a little while (fingers crossed!) so whiles it's warmer out why not pop up for a walk and a coffee - there are lots of trails and nature sheets to keep the kids entertained too find out more about February's trail.

Plus we have our Wild Play trail on offer too, in case you need any ideas for even more running about outdoors! 


Closure of the landscape gardens - 15th Feb


We've decided to close the landscape gardens again at least for this morning (Saturday 15th), until the wind subsides a little. We're hopeful we can reopen this afternoon and we're very much looking forward to the sunshine and low winds promised for tomorrow! 

The formal gardens, cafe and shop remain open.
