Hestercombe hosts top authors at Taunton Literary Festival

Sunday 23rd September 11.30a.m. to 7.30p.m. Half Price Entry to the Gardens with your lecture ticket...

An exciting line up of authors will be appearing at Hestercombe on Sunday 23rd September for the second day of the Taunton Literary Festival. It’s the second year of the festival and the first time this attractive venue has been used and promises to be a feast for the ears and eyes.

In keeping with the garden location the Sunday speaker line up has an emphasis on nature. The day kicks off  with Rosemary Penfold, at 11.3oam reminiscing about an idyllic countryside of the past  which is featured in her book ‘Posy of Wild Flowers.’   Nature writer and natural history television producer, Stephen Moss, follows at 2.30pm with a touching insight into his life and work with references to his hauntingly beautiful new book,  Wild Hares and Hummingbirds.  Stephen will be interviewed live at Hestercombe by rural  broadcaster and journalist, Rebecca Pow who will endeavour to extract some personal and poignant reminiscences from Stephen to share with the audience.

Agricultural and food writer and previous agricultural story editor of the Archers, Graham Harvey,  continues the day’s countryside theme focusing on his book ‘Quest for Real Food’  a treatise on how modern high-input farming is wrecking our health, rural communities and planet.  The day ends with Miriam Darlington’s touching  lecture on her search for wild otters, one of Britain’s most elusive animals and featured in her book ‘Otter Country.’

Enjoy the delightful Stables Restaurant and Coffee Shop at Hestercombe, stroll in the gardens and visit the shop during the day.  Make it a whole literary day out in glorious surroundings! Special half price entry to the gardens on Sunday 23rd offered to literary festival ticket holders.

Tickets are £6.50 per talk and are available from Brendon Books, Bath Place, Taunton http://www.tauntonliteraryfestival.net/Sunday23.html
