The Visitor Reception Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the visitor reception area, ensuring that all guests receive a warm welcome. This role involves managing a team of reception staff, coordinating group bookings, handling visitor inquiries and maintaining a smooth flow of visitors throughout the property.

Duties include:

  • Ensure the highest standard of visitor welcome and care for all of our audiences at Hestercombe; in person, on the phone and via email. This includes business, functions, education, tour groups, regular garden visitors and Members in-line with the Hestercombe Gardens Customer Service strategy.
  • Be responsible for the operation and presentation of our visitor welcome and information points, in particular our site reception kiosk.
  • Coordinate group bookings. Ensuring their visit to Hestercombe is well organised from start to finish, including meals and guide tours as required.
  • Actively promote the benefits of membership to visitors to increase the membership base and maximise recruitment potential. Promote and sell property guidebooks, event tickets and visitor information.
  • Oversee the Visitor Reception team. Scheduling staff rotas and ensuring adequate cover for opening hours and special events.
  • Leading, monitoring, motivating and inspiring the team; providing guidance and support.
  • Develop a sound knowledge of the gardens and also of the Trust’s role as an independent conservation charity in order to effectively engage our visitors in our work and train staff to do likewise.

Salary & Contract

Salary: £28,000 per annum (pro-rata).

Full-time role to cover maternity on a 6 month fixed term contract with a possibility for the fixed term contract to be extended or to be offered a permanent role.

You will often be required to work weekend days and Bank Holidays throughout the year.
