Competition Time: Help Name Hestercombe’s Swans
At the end of 2019, we welcomed two new Polish swans to Hestercombe. Following the sad passing of our previous swan resident in December 2018 – affectionately called ‘Grumpy’, ‘Angry Bob’, and ‘Swanny’ among other equally ingenious monikers – we are now hoping to come up with names for our two new swans (we have a younger male and an older female).
They are currently settling in really well around the Pear Pond and Mill Pond, and have struck up solid friendships with the legion of ducks, who were without a leader for almost a whole year.
We would henceforth like to invite Hestercombe visitors, members and supporters to send in their ideas for our Swan Naming Competition!
The closing date will be 5pm on Monday 4th May 2020, and winning names will be chosen from entries by Hestercombe’s Chief Executive, Philip White MBE and Head Gardener, Claire Greenslade. The announcement will be made here and on social media in May; and winners of the competition will receive a special prize.
