Join us for an evening with Young Organic Grower of the Year, Ashley Wheeler, for the first in our new Bampfylde Series of talks and discussions.

Ashley and Kate Norman won the Young Organic Grower of the Year Award in its first year (2021) for their commitment to organic principles and how their attention to good soil management and biodiversity has helped them deliver quality vegetable production despite a farm with a high water table and poor drainage. They were also commended for their commitment to ongoing training, including their support for the Landworkers’ Alliance.

"Ash and Kate at Trill farm have been at the centre of organic growing in Devon, not only producing truly world class salad and vegetables but also encouraging other local farms to start on the organic journey. Having been a chef for twenty years I've rarely met anyone producing such wonderful ingredients with such a commitment to sustainable and ethical food, they have been an amazing part of us creating stunning organic dishes which continue to surpass our guests expectations and long may our partnership continue."
Gelf Alderson, Head Chef River Cottage HQ

We welcome Ashley back to Hestercombe some years after he began his career in horticulture and growing as part of the Hestercombe garden team. Ashley will share the journey they've been on and stories from setting up a successful Organic market farm, as well as insights in to how they use sustainable principles to nurture and manage the land.
