To my worldly blog followers, sorry for my absence over the last few weeks, it’s been a busy time in the kitchens.
A little belated I know but I wish Liz our old pastry chef good luck in her new venture. The weeks that passed after Liz left were busy ones but (would you believe I was making cakes?!) but were made easier by the support of a great team in Bart and Cosimo my chefs – cheers guys!!
I would now like to say a big Hesetercombe welcome to Trina our new pastry chef, who brings with her a wealth of experience and fresh ideas.
So then, the team is all in place and gearing up for a busy summer season of garden visitors and weddings. Our new Spring menu is going well including the popular lamb burgers with mint yoghurt and the fresh salmon linguine The main meal and dessert deal (two courses for just £12!) is keeping Trina busy, especially on Sundays with our roast dinners, served with possibly the biggest Yorkshire puddings you will ever see! (high-five to Bart for perfecting them!)
Herb May starts at Hestercombe tomorrow with lots of different recipes to follow alongside offers in the Plant Centre. Asparagus season is bursting into life so look out for specials over the weeks to come.
Finally before I head back into the kitchen on this sunny day, it was said on the radio this morning that May is to be one of the driest on record so get ready for a hosepipe ban as apparently there is already a water shortage (must be because of the dry Autumn and Winter we had!!)
