The plant sale starts this weekend in the plant centre at Hestercombe. It's a great time to bag a bargain and a great time of the year to get things planted and established before the frosts and give them a head start for spring.
We have just lifted the Gladioli from the plat in the formal garden and they are available for you to take home in return for a donation to Hestercombe Gardens.
We have 2 colours:
Gladioli 'Traderhorn' is a bright red glad with a white throat.
Gladioli 'Ibadan' is a beautifully gentle salmon coloured glad
To store the corms, keep them spaced apart to dry up- on something like a cake cooling tray. When the leaves of the glad have browned and died off, cut them about an inch above the corm. Then you can store them in a paper bag in the shed until spring when they can be planted.
So come and get your glads!
Happy gardening.
