This spooky season, Hestercombe has a whole host of fantastically frightful activities to keep mini witches and wizards magically occupied.
This October half-term, we’ll have plenty of family-friendly (but slightly spooky!) events - perfect for burning off some energy. The Hestercombe Peculiar Potions trail will have your head in a spin, whilst our special events such as visits from creepy critters, a spellbinding science masterclass and a room of wicked wizardry, are all the ingredients needed for a spook-tacular day out.
Wurzelly the Wizard has come to Hestercombe this Halloween, transforming the Octagon Summerhouse once again into his own wickedly wondrous room of wizardry, magic and illusions!
Back by popular demand, Sciencedipity will be visiting Hestercombe again for a spellbinding masterclass of potion making. Get your capes and cauldrons at the ready and drop in for a spell in the Bampfylde Hall. Roll up your wizarding sleeves for some messy science magic with a combination of safe chemicals that make a lovely colour changing, fizzy potion.
Exmoor Zoo are back this Halloween with a fang-tastic display of their most creepy critters! From hairy tarantulas to icky stick insects, come and see these wonderful creatures live in person - and learn a bit more about them along the way.
Venture into our enchanted woods..
Have you ever wondered what its like to create magic with your eyes? Find out this October Half Term with master of illusions Wurzelly the Wizard in this elusive new trail, where you can help forgetful Wurzelly to remember what eerie elements are missing from his marvellous mind bending mixture! Once you have completed you trail booklet you can collect your prize from the Ticket Office or Gift Shop.
Trail booklet £2.00
Hester the bat is back on a flapping frenzy around the gardens. Spot her and tell the Gift Shop where she is to get a free prize!
On your visit, stop off at either of our play areas for some magical fun. Our under-7s play area is situated by the Visitor Reception, and children both young and old will enjoy building dens up in our new wild play area by the Charcoal Burner’s Camp.
Treat your little ones (and yourself of course!) with some delicious home-cooked food from the Stables restaurant, which offers a child-friendly menu with full table service. Tasty light bites, cakes, drinks and Halloween-themed treats are all available from Caffè + Gelato.
