Willow Weaving by Windrush Willow
We are thrilled to welcome Windrush Willow to our Marquee Lawn this summer!
Time to get spooky with our Halloween Spook-tacular activities!
If you're planning to visit between Monday 9th September and Friday 13th September, please be aware that there is a diversion in place to get to the main entrance. This is due to Wessex Water works taking place and closing the road along Pitchers Hill in Cheddon Fitzpaine. To see where the road closure is and the diversion, please click here. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

This spooky season, Hestercombe has a whole host of fantastically frightful activities to keep mini witches and wizards magically occupied - best of all this October half-term (Saturday 26th October to Sunday 3rd November), children go free!
Join us for a fun spook-tacular day out by taking part in our Hestercombe Haunted House trail, as well as a potion making workshop from Sciencedipity (Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th October only) and Halloween crafts (Monday 28th October to Friday 1st November).
Back by popular demand, Sciencedipity will be visiting Hestercombe again for a spellbinding masterclass of potion making. Get your capes and cauldrons at the ready and drop in for a spell in the Bampfylde Hall. Roll up your wizarding sleeves for some messy science magic with a combination of safe chemicals that make a lovely colour changing, fizzy potion.
Venture into our enchanted woods...
This October half term, follow the trail points and find the different spooky characters hidden around the gardens. Don't forget to stamp your trail sheet at each trail point to complete 'Hestercombe's Haunted House'. Once you have completed your trail sheet you can collect your prize from the Ticket Office or Gift Shop.
Get creative with our Halloween crafts (Monday to Friday only) inside Bampfylde Hall. Make magical wands or have a go at creating dangling bats and ghosts.
Hester the bat is back and hidden around the gardens. Can you spot where she is hiding? Check out our social stories to receive a clue!
On your visit, stop off at either of our play areas for some magical fun. Our under-7s play area is situated by the Visitor Reception, and children both young and old will enjoy building dens up in our new wild play area by the Charcoal Burner’s Camp.
Treat your little ones (and yourself of course!) with some delicious home-cooked food from the Stables restaurant, which offers a child-friendly menu with full table service. Tasty light bites, cakes, and drinks are all available from Caffè + Gelato.
Please note: You do not need to book to attend any of the Halloween events. Simply purchase standard garden admission (free for members) and drop-in to the events. A kids go free this October half term offer is available from the Saturday 26th October to Sunday 3rd November, 2024. Applicable for children aged 15 and under.
