This in-depth workshop takes place at our demonstration self-sufficiency garden in Somerset and focuses on practical approaches to soil health and composting.

Through a combination of garden tours, demonstrations, and hands-on activities, you’ll learn how to build both the quality and quantity of your soil—without the use of chemicals. Our methods are designed to increase resilience, reduce labour, and improve crop performance in a changing climate.

This is a practical, accessible course—not a deep scientific dive—offering straightforward techniques that deliver quick results with minimal cost and time.

• Location: Hestercombe Gardens, Somerset (please note the venue is rural and public transport options are limited)

The course is approximately 60% outdoors on uneven ground, with some indoor time for discussions and demonstrations. Please wear sturdy footwear and dress for all weather conditions.

Refreshments will be provided.

The nearest train station is Taunton. While public transport options are limited, taxis are available from the station. The nearest shop is approximately a 10-minute drive away.

Booking & Cancellation

As a small non-profit organisation, we are unable to offer refunds. If you need to cancel up to one month before the course, you will be offered a credit towards another workshop. After this time, credits can only be offered if your place is successfully rebooked.
