Through a series of guided, practical exercises, you’ll begin to build the foundations of a compelling whodunnit, from intriguing characters to cunning methods and motives.

Drawing on the house itself, from portraits and photographs to its layout and hidden corners, you’ll develop ideas that feel rich, atmospheric and full of possibility. Led by Somerset-based crime writer Jo Middleton, whose novel Not Another Bloody Christmas was longlisted for the CWA Dagger Awards Whodunnit Dagger, this workshop is designed to be playful, engaging, and inspiring, whether you’re new to writing or looking to try something different.
