A sparkling winter woodland walk, skating, Father Christmas and 3 unique Carol concerts combine to make the festive season at Hestercombe exceptional.
For the first time, from November 30th until December 24th, from 4.30pm each evening (check website for exact times) an enchanting Winter Wonderland woodland walk will be open at the famous Hestercombe near Taunton. As dusk falls venture along the winding pathway through the trees lit with a multitude of sparkling lights and hung with heavenly decorations. Spot the little willow woodland animals too!
And in a fairy-tale come true discover Father Christmas warming his toes by the fire in the eighteenth century Octagon Summerhouse from December 13th! When the whiskered man takes up residence he is so popular (as are the high quality wooden toys he dispatches) that booking is essential especially for the late night openings on Saturdays and the week leading up to Christmas.
This year, the popular all weather indoor, skating rink will be even bigger and better than ever. Hot toddies will be served at rink side with Hestercombe’s famous cakes and tasty treats. Book individual skating time slots or bring a group for a childrens’ party (special rate of £10.50 to include skating and party food.) Even more magic: A Kaleidoscope of Carols!
On Saturday 7th December, 6pm, the exquisite central hallway in Hestercombe House will be filled with the angelic sound of Wellington School Chapel Choir. This was a sell out last year so book now to avoid disappointment!
On December 21st, the Taunton based Chamber Choir, Amici will be performing in the house and on December 22nd a new and lively Kid’s Christmas Carol Concert will take place at 4.30pm. This is a great opportunity for everyone to sing along (and dance) to a wonderful range of Christmas classics led by the entertaining Bridgwater Youth Choir and Bridgwater Show Choir.
Hestercombe is a great place for a luxury Christmas party as well. Book a table for lunch or dinner in the stunning setting of the Bampfylde Hall. Combine this with skating and a woodland walk for a truly unforgettable experience.
