PA to Chief Executive

Role summary:

This role will provide full office and administrative support to the Chief Executive of of the Hestercombe Gardens Trust. This role would suit someone organised, flexible and with excellent communication and IT skills.

  • Diary management

  • Correspondence, including emails and letters

  • Event planning and management (including London)

  • Administrative support with fundraising applications and projects

  • Administrative support with membership development, including development and management of annual programme of events

  • Membership correspondence for events

  • Reorganisation and streamline of archive / filing

  • Occasional weekend and evening working required.

Salary and hours:

Flexible and part time. 2-3 days a week.
£25,000 per annum, pro rata.

Kitchen Porter

Role summary:

1: Be responsible for the dish and pot wash section, ensuring the section is clear and clean
2: Assist in the maintenance, cleanliness & high hygiene standards of the Hestercombe kitchen
3: Ensure the proper storage and transfer of food, equipment & commodities as required
4: Be aware of and comply with the food safety, food hygiene and health and safety laws
5: Assist with basic food preparation as required

The post holder may be required to undertake other reasonable duties, which are compatible within the overall scope of this appointment.

Salary and hours:

8 hours per week. Shifts include weekends and evenings. Postholder must have a flexible approach to working hours to meet the requirements of the Hestercombe.
Rate of pay is National Living Wage.

Book seller – Voluntary

Role summary:

Do you love books?
Do you have online book selling experience?
Then we need you.
We are looking for an experienced book seller to join our team of back room volunteers in order to keep our growing inventory up to date. Hours to suit. Volunteer incentives include discounts and complimentary Hestercombe membership.

Gift Shop – Voluntary

As a volunteer in the gift shop, you will enjoy interacting with new people as you welcome visitors to the shop. The role will allow you to assist with customer service, stock replenishment, and housekeeping as well as merchandising and taking money at the till. Full training will be given.

Bookshop Assistants – Voluntary

From working selling books to visitors to doing the ‘behind the scences’ sorting there’s lots to be done in the bookshop. We have donations arriving every week that need sorting, pricing and cleaning before they can be put out for sale. And once they’re on the shelves there’s serving visitors and chatting to them about the books they like. We ask for a commitment of one morning or afternoon every two weeks. Gallery Invigilators – Voluntary

As a volunteer in this role, you will meet and greet visitors to the new Hestercombe House Gallery, helping them to get the most out of their visit. You will have information about each of the artworks in your section and will be working as part of a team. You will be responsible for safeguarding the paintings and guiding visitors through the different rooms of the ‘pop-up’ gallery. Hestercombe’s busy event schedule is run by a close knit, hardworking team of staff and volunteers. We’re looking for more people to sign up to seasonal events.
