Fungi, Fiction and Festive Fayre!
November at Hestercombe kicks off with a Historical Writer’s
Association Day as part of the Taunton Literary Festival. Throughout
the day a range of authors including Anthony Riches, Karen Maitland
and J.D. Davies, will be in conversation covering the subjects of The
Romans, Historical Crime and Naval Fiction. Combine food for the
mind with food for the body by booking Lunch and Two Talks for just
£20 or Tea (a cream one) and Two Talks for £15.
If you prefer the great outdoors, then on the same day, November 3rd
venture into the extensive grounds at Hestercombe between 10am and
12pm, on a Fungal Foray with fungi expert Michael Jordan, Chairman
of the British Fungal Groups. This is a fascinating insight into this curious
inhabitant of our wild places. Spot the different types of mushrooms and
toadstools but do not eat them without Michael’s specific guidance, they
may be poisonous!
On Saturday November 16th 10am – 7pm and Sunday 17th 10am –
5pm get ahead of the rush and enjoy the ever popular Hestercombe
Christmas Market. For £3 on line or £3.50 on the door take advantage
of this magical market, bursting with fresh ideas to start you Christmas
shopping. Delight in over 60 stalls with homemade and handmade
gifts to temp in a festive setting accompanied by seasonal choirs in the
lavishly decorated Courtyard, mince pies, mulled wine and traditional
treats from the Stables Kitchen. The Hestercombe shop will also be
bedecked with twinkling Christmas gifts.
