Pop-up Café available in Hestercombe's Portman Room

Hestercombe's Portman Room will temporarily become a pop up cafe in January 2019

Hestercombe's Portman Room will temporarily become a pop-up cafe in January 2019 whilst the Stables Cafe kitchen is upgraded.

Hestercombe’s Stables Café is temporarily closing next week whilst the kitchen undergoes refurbishment so from Wednesday 16th January we will be opening a pop-up café on the ground floor of Hestercombe House.

You will be able to enjoy tea and cake or lunch in the grand surroundings of the Portman Room, named after the family who acquired the Hestercombe estate in 1872. It was the Hon Edward ‘Teddy’ Portman who in 1903 commissioned Gertrude Jekyll and Sir Edwin Lutyens to create Hestercombe’s renowned Formal Garden.

The pop-up café will be open every day 10am – 5pm serving cakes and hot drinks with a reduced lunchtime menu of sandwiches, soup and quiche. As in the Stables Café, dogs will be allowed in the seating area, and it's free to enter. Unfortunately we will not be serving any roasts on Sunday 20th January.

However, the Column Room Restaurant in Hestercombe House will be open every day serving lunch and afternoon teas.

The Stables Café will re-open on Saturday 26th January.
